What makes the cologne One Million so special?
Researching about the cologne One Million by Paco Rabanne, I was able to find an amount of information that helped me understand what the fever is all about. At first sight, the whole One Million line seems quite astonishing. The first thing that caught my attention wasn't the name, it was the bottles in which the fragrance is packaged. Additionally, I have compiled a list of reviews and some videos from some users to help you understand why the cologne is so sought after.

Inspiration to make the One Million line
The first thing I wanted to know was where did the inspiration for the 1 Million cologne line come from. I was able to find a bit on WikiPedia, and the fact is that the 1 Million cologne was the last that Mr. Rabanne was able to input on before passing away. The fragrance was released in 2008 and it is also considered to be one of the most popular men's fragrance worldwide. That said, I did a little more research to see what else I could find in terms of inspiration. I did find in the Aromanto website, that the perfume was inspired by gold, wealth, and power. After looking a bit further in the Fragrantica website, I was also able to find some exact words from Paco Rabanne him self "In all civilizations and religions gold has always managed to seduce people". Gold is all around us: in architecture, design, jewelry, clothes, accessories, fashion...It is noticeable and respected worldwide and it possesses divine notes. The bottle of this edition for men is created in golden nuances. It represents power, wealth, luxury, durability..." Well.. that makes sense if you look at the perfume bottle. Actually, it all makes sense now.
Perfumers involved in the making of the 1 Million
Let's move on and read a bit about the perfumers responsible for the One Million cologne line. For the first 1 Million release in 2008, the names of the perfumers who took place in the creation were Paco Rabanne, Christophe Raynaud, Olivier Pescheux, Michel Girard and Christian Dussoulier.
Paco Rabanne originally trained to be an architect. According to his profile on rabanne.com page, he started applying his skills toward accessory design in the early 1960's. Rabanne launched his design career with a line of 12 "contemporary outfits, title The Unwearables." I was wondering why he named it that, then I read that this is where he introduced the first dress made of plastic. [5] It was in 1968 when Rabanne collaborated with Puig to start producing his world famous Paco Rabanne fragrances.
Christophe Raynaud has also worked with companies like Creations Aromatiques, Drom, Symrise, Quest, and Givaudan. Other notable works from him include Lancome La Nuit Tresor and Mugler Aura Mugler. [1]
The next perfumer that worked on the One Million cologne was Olivier Pescheux. Some of Olivier's latest perfumes include Lilyphea, Bois Corse, Maria Callas, and African Colors. Unfortunately, Olivier passed away at the age of 57. As a perfumer, his career started in Bangkok in the year 1990 working for Payan Bertrand. It is also worth noting that Mr. Pescheux also achieved the rank of Master Perfumer. [2]
Michael Girard was another perfumer that worked on the 1 Million collection. Gerard's latest collection includes Valentino UOMO Born in Roma, Geranium Pepper, Cinnamon Cedarwood, and Magnetic Musk just to name a few. Gerard was born in 1957 and grew up in Grasse. According to fragantica.com, Grasse is a "world re-nowned French town known as the capital of perfumery." [3]
Christian Dussoulier is a Master Perfumer who received his education from the ISIPCA school. He worked for eight years at Givaudan, a company which the other perfumers we talked about have also worked at. Christian has a plethora of famous perfumes he's worked on including Dior Hypnotic Poison, Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio, Dior Dior Addict, Lolita Lempicka, Paco Rabanne 1 Million, Nina Ricci Nina, and more. Future for the One Million Line
Third, I researched future plans for the 1 Million cologne collection. I had a little help from the Google AI tool for this one. It conducts shallow perfume research a whole lot better and faster than I can. There's nothing wrong with that, AI does, after all, have the ability to do so. The first suggestion AI made was following my original train of thought anyhow, so I wouldn't give AI that much credit!
That train of thought was that if the Million Gold Elixir was launched in 2025 then we can see their commitment to continuing the 1 Million line. You can actually see that they dedicate a lot of time and space to the line by looking at Rabanne's One Million landing page.
Another reason to believe that the 1 Million line is still being developed is that this video shows the 1 Million Lucky fragrance being re-released in 2025. You will note the new packaging bottle for the perfume says "Rabanne" instead of "Paco Rabanne". This is because lately, the company was renamed.
