Daisy has been someone's first real perfume for close to twenty years now. Released in 2007, it made a virtue of being light rather than serious, and its flower-capped bottle turned into a shorthand for a certain kind of easy, uncomplicated femininity. Most of what Marc Jacobs does in fragrance still orbits it.

The Daisy family here runs through the original eau de toilette, Daisy Eau So Fresh and Daisy So Fresh, Daisy Dream, Daisy Love and Daisy Fresh. They move from the crisp violet-and-strawberry of the original toward juicier and softer readings, and they are close enough to each other that trying two or three together is genuinely useful.

Perfect is the second pillar and a different proposition. Warmer, milkier and creamier, built on almond milk and cedar, it comes in the eau de parfum, Perfect Intense, Perfect Elixir and Perfect Absolute, each a step up in weight. If Daisy is a spring fragrance, Perfect is what you reach for once the evening cools.
