Nishane
Nishane opened in Istanbul in 2012, the first Turkish niche perfume house of any real profile, founded by Murat Katran and Mert Guzel. It works almost entirely in extrait de parfum, and it has the confidence to name its scents after Turkish shadow theatre characters rather than after moods.
Hacivat is the one that made the house. Named for the educated, formal character in the Karagoz shadow plays, it opens with pineapple and grapefruit and then settles into oakmoss, cedar and patchouli - bright and green on top, properly structured underneath. It has been imitated constantly since 2017. We stock it in both 3.4 oz and 1.7 oz.
Hundred Silent Ways, in 3.4 oz, is the other side of the house: a creamy, sweet almond and jasmine extrait over a soft woody base, much warmer and quieter than Hacivat.
All three listings include 5 ml and 10 ml decants. At extrait concentration a small bottle covers a lot of wearings, and Hacivat in particular does not need a heavy hand.
