The torso bottle arrived in 1993 for Classique and again in 1995 for Le Male, and it remains one of the few pieces of fragrance packaging that people recognise across a room. Gaultier whole approach was to take something familiar - a sailor striped shirt, a corset, a human body - and put it somewhere it did not belong.

Le Male anchors this page. Francis Kurkdjian composed it as lavender and mint over vanilla, a barbershop scent turned sweet, and it has been on shelves continuously for thirty years.
