Parfums de Marly
The house takes its name from the Chateau de Marly, where the French court of the eighteenth century kept its horses and its perfumers. Parfums de Marly revived that reference in 2009 and has stuck to it since: nearly every fragrance is named after a horse, and the crest on the bottle is the same one that would have sat on a royal stable.
What that translates to on skin is a house style built on richness without heaviness. Layton, the one most people arrive looking for, is apple and lavender over vanilla and is joined here by Layton Exclusif. Pegasus works almond and heliotrope into something creamy, with Pegasus Exclusif taking it further. Herod is cherry tobacco and vanilla; Godolphin, Percival, Kalan, Galloway, Akaster, Carlisle, Perseus, Althair and Greenly fill out the masculine side with everything from spiced leather to green fig.
The feminine releases are just as deep. Delina is the flagship, all lychee and Turkish rose, and we also carry Delina Exclusif, the Delina hair mist and the Delina candle for anyone who wants the scent in the room rather than on the wrist. Cassili, Meliora, Valaya, Oriana and Palatine cover softer musks, white florals and gourmand pear.
Many of these bottles are listed with 5ml and 10ml decant options, which is a sensible way to spend time with something like Herod or Delina before committing to the 75ml or 125ml. Note that the spelling is Marly rather than Marley, a detail that trips up a lot of searches.
