Davidoff Cool Water
Zino Davidoff sold cigars in Geneva, and the fragrance license that carries his name produced one genuinely important perfume. Cool Water arrived in 1988, Pierre Bourdon put a huge dose of dihydromyrcenol into it, and the aquatic fougere was born. Almost every fresh blue fragrance for men of the following two decades owes it something. The counterpart for women, Cool Water Woman, followed in 1996 with pineapple, blackcurrant and a marine accord over sandalwood.
Our Davidoff page currently holds one item: the Cool Water For Her Pour Elle eau de toilette gift set. It is a small page and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If you already know this scent, the set is the practical format - the spray plus the accompanying pieces in the original box, ready to hand over.
Cool Water Woman has aged better than most of its era. It is watery without being thin, and it holds up in humidity, which is more than can be said for a lot of nineties florals once you wear them in July in South Florida.
