Narciso Rodriguez designed clothes in New York for years before For Her arrived in 2003 and changed what a mainstream fragrance for women could smell like. It was built on musk - not as a base note under something else, but as the subject. Christine Nagel and Francis Kurkdjian worked on it, and two decades later the house is still essentially examining the same material from different angles.

Our six listings are that family. Narciso Rodriguez Parfum and Toilette are the two concentrations of the original, the toilette lighter and rosier, the parfum darker with more amber and patchouli. Rouge adds warmth through a peppered rose. Poudree is the powdery, iris tinted reading and the softest of the group. Pure Musc strips almost everything else away and leaves the white musk exposed. Blue Noir is the entry for men, cool and woody with a musky heart that ties it back to the rest.

Musk is one of those materials people smell differently, and the whole point of this house is that it shifts on skin. That makes it a line worth trying in person rather than reading about.
