A Different Michael Malul scent for every Season and Time of Day

A Different Michael Malul scent for every Season and Time of Day

Franco Petitfour |

While looking for ideas to write about perfumes, I ran across this LaBellePerfumes' post titled "A Guide to the Best Ariana Grande Perfume for Any Occasion". I found it interesting in the sense that it educates readers for what occasion a perfume would be ideal for. With that idea in mind, I started looking a bit further into the article and realized LaBellePerfumes used Fragrantica as a source in their article.

After visiting Fragrantica, I remembered there's a feature on their website pointing users to the best time of year and day to wear a perfume. After checking this out, I realized what I wanted to write for; and that is to give readers a different Michael Malul scent for every time of day and season of the year, along with some information on the perfumers. I will include something about the perfumers that I have found on the internet, and maybe you could reach out to them yourself and get some of their intentions behind the scents they've worked on!

Michael Malul Perfumes for Different Times of the Day

Since perfumers take their skill to the next level, these are facts that cross their mind whenever they are creating a fragrance. What the best times are to wear specific Michael Malul perfumes are, is one of those questions, and we can affirm that from Laurent's words: "When you go to the restaurant… don’t put perfume on… it is really to appreciate what you are going to eat… If you put perfume on before going to the restaurant…the perfume should be very light, or apply it before your shower so that you are very delicately perfumed."

So Let's get started, I will pick out a couple of Michael Malul Perfumes for each time of the day, morning, afternoon, and evening. I will give some occasions on when you can wear these through that time of day as well.

Michael Malul Perfumes for the Morning

Let's start out with what the Fragrantica user base considers some fragrances to wear in the morning. These are the perfumes you'll wear to breakfast, brunch, and a morning stroll beachside, or maybe a morning stroll at the mall when all the shops are not full of angry shoppers.

  1. Citizen Jill Michael Malul London for Women
  2. Citizen Jill is a free spirit. She’s that effortlessly cool, California girl — flawless skin, beachy waves, and big sunglasses with a chic boho dress. She’s always up for a spontaneous road trip to the mountains. Riding in her jeep, feeling the desert wind ripping through your hair with the perfect song blaring on the radio. There’s nothing but the road before you, endless conversations, and the horizon rolling out, promising infinite possibilities.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Citron, D’Anjou Pear Mid Notes: Poppy, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley Base Notes:Velvet Musk, Amber, Vanilla, Sandalwood

Some of the comments on Fragrantica include: "This perfume is so underrated!! Wow I don’t even know how to describe the smell but it’s amazing and has amazing performance and silage for me. I think this could be worn any season as well. Definitely test this before buying as it’s not blind buy safe imo" by user sammsullivann. [1]

Lastly, some of the comments that you can find on the Fragrantica website include: "weet berry floral w/ a mild woody note. Simple, languid, pretty. Perfect everyday Spring/Summer scent. 3. Citizen Jack Absolute Michael Malul London for Men
  4. Citizen Jack Absolute is optimistic, powerful, and unapologetic. A modern-day Gatsby, luxury is the norm in their everyday life as money, cigars, and top-shelf alcohol run in excess. Their outfit staples: a logo-less designer t-shirt and jeans always paired with just the right leather accessories. To put it bluntly–the party never “officially” starts without them.

Stand out right from the crowd with notes of fresh bergamot and melon before softening into a unique, luxurious blend of pineapple and amber. Enduring base notes of vanilla and musk open at the base, turning heads everywhere you go.

This fragrance has 135 votes for long lasting and 184 for moderate longevity. In regards to sillage, this perfume has 243 moderate votes in the Fragrantica website. Some of the comments from the Fragrantica website also include: "This is a night out/clubbing banger for young adults. Fits the same occasion as Ultra Male but is a more modern take. Very fruity and sweet but not over the top like Erba Pura, it's a dialed down version which I prefer." by user bhdang95. [4]

Michael Malul Perfumes for the Evening

These are some fragrances that you would want to wear during evening events. Whether your going out to watch a movie, get some food, or out to a fundraising event, this would be a list of fragrances that you would want to consider wearing during such evenings.

  1. Rose+Honey Michael Malul London for Women
  2. An irresistibly sweet, fruity opening of strawberry, mara, tangerine, and peach skin draws you in. Soft floral notes of rose petals, cashmeran, and honey np sensually embrace base notes of vetiver Haiti, amber musk, and white caramel. Voted as a day/night fragrance in Fragrantica, this fragrance holds Top Notes of Strawberry Mara, Tangerine, Peach Skin, Middle Notes of Rose Petals, Cashmeran, Honey NP, and Base Notes of Vetiver Haiti, amber musk, and white caramel.

Some comments about this fragrance in Fragrantica include "It's insane how strong this is 12 hours later. I could swear I smell rhubarb, even though that's not a note, and the cashmeran is a bit iffy for me. Sometimes it screams VERYCLEANHAMSTERCAGE on my skin." from user rene.saller. Additionally, the fragrance has 18 votes for moderate and 15 for long-lasting longevity. [5]

  3. Ocean Noir Michael Malul for Men
  4. Bold and yet subtle, Ocean Noir envelopes anyone passing by in an air of mystery. He’s classically handsome, think tall, broad shoulders, but there’s something mischievous about his smile. Miami-born and raised, he’s made quite a career for himself, however, that’s about as much as you can find out about him. An avid traveler, he’s hard to get to know as he’s yachting every weekend in some new exotic locale, blood & tan cocktail in hand.

Tropical opening notes of marine mist, tangelo, and black coconut set a lush, mysterious tone as fresh mid notes of sea kelp, yarrow, and geranium pull you further out to sea. Deep and enduring base notes of amberwood, tonka bean, and musk take you from day to night. Some of the comments in the Fragrantica website include "It’s good, not sure it’s worth the hype that it gets, but it’s a nice warm weather scent that’s pretty original. I actually get a little bit of the Chanel Allure Homme DNA with the sea notes, orange, musk and tonka. Get a travel size before spending over $100" by user rp64. [6]

Hamid Merati-Kashani

Mr. Merati-Kashani is behind multiple perfumes for Michael Malul including Rose+Honey, Terra Nova, Wood + Cardamon, and Zest+Vetiver. He was born in Germany and is currently working for a company named Firmenich. Firmenich is a "global leader in health, nutrition, and bioscience with the world's largest privately-owned fragrance and taste company." With over 150+ years of experience, DSM-firmenich is considered a leader in nutrition, health, and beauty.

Mr. Merati-Kashani's quoted on the DSM-firmenich website with the following words: "Fragrance is my signature, I'm inspired to inspire. The scents I create should be bold and memorable". I caught a couple of quotes on the DSM-firmenich website that I can align with from Mr. Merati-Kashani such as “A successful person is an example to follow.”, and "The most important thing is to have enough on the table morning, noon and night. If you have more than you need, give". [8]

Clement Gavarry

Clement Gavarry is also a Principal Perfumer at dsm-firmenich. The quote he has on his profile at dsm-firmenich.com says "Creating never seems like work to me, instead it’s a feeling that I am enjoying the pleasures of my passion!". What I found quite amazing about Mr. Gavarry is that he's "the fourth generation of his family to work in fragrance creation". Mr. has been living in New York since his 20s. [9]

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mr. Gavarry has been working at Firmenich since June 2017. Before his work at Firmenich, Mr. Gavarry was working at International Flavors & Fragrances for 16 years and 7 months. After looking at Mr. Gavarry's Wikiparfum profile, you get to see that his most used ingredients include: Sandalwood, Vanilla, Gardenia, Musk, Jasmine, Bergamot, and Sugar. [10] Some of the Michael Malul perfumes he's worked on include: 293 Sparkle, Citizen Jack Parfum, Jet Black Horizon, Jet Black Intense, and Jet Black Mahogany.

Gwen Gonzalez

Gwen Gonzales seems to be an upcoming perfumer. I found two profiles for her in Fragrantica, once being under Gwen Gonzalez and the other one being under Gwen Gordon-Gonzalez. Both perfumer profiles say that she has worked with Michael Malul though. One says that she worked with making Electric Heart and the other one with making Sangria+Saffron.

Gwen Gordon-Gonzalez has worked at Givaudan for 14 years and 8 months. There she's held the titles of Perfumer, Perfumer Trainee, Technical Stability Evaluator, and Jr. Perfumer. [11] Givaudan is a company whose business activities are focused on Taste, Wellbeing, Fragrance, and Beauty.

By reading this you should have gained a better understanding on the times and days to wear certain Michael Malul perfumes while also gained a bit more knowledge behind what people think about these perfumes. Lastly, you should also have learned about the perfumers behind the different scents.
