Rasasi Hawas: One Line, Eleven Directions
Rasasi has been making perfume in Dubai since 1979, but in the United States the house is known almost entirely for one thing, and this collection is that thing. Hawas, which translates roughly as desire, began as a single men's fragrance and has since grown into a family of its own. Every bottle on this page belongs to it.
Hawas for Him is the original and the reference point: pineapple and bergamot over ambergris and driftwood, fresh and fruity and sharply masculine, with the sort of longevity that made it a word-of-mouth success rather than an advertised one. It is the fragrance people are thinking of when they say a house punches above its weight.
The flankers are not filler. Hawas Ice is the coldest and cleanest. Hawas Black is the darkest and most nocturnal. Hawas Viper and Hawas Kobra push into spicier, more aggressive territory. Hawas Verde goes green and aromatic; Hawas Tropical and Hawas Malibu head into sun-and-fruit registers that make particular sense in this climate; Hawas Atlantis takes the aquatic route. Hawas London is the most tailored and formal of the set, and Hawas Elixir is the most concentrated of them all.
What holds the line together is performance. These project and they last, which is the entire reason the Rasasi following exists. It is also why choosing blind is a mistake, since eleven variations on one theme are genuinely hard to tell apart from a description.
