Unisex Perfume and Shared Scents

Scent never really needed a gender. This is the shelf where that idea lives: 186 bottles chosen because they read well on anyone, built around ambers, ouds, musks, gourmands and clean woods rather than around whoever the marketing was aimed at.

Bond No. 9 anchors the section with its New York series - Greenwich Village, Tribeca, Soho, Liberty Island, Queens, FiDi, Signature, New York Nights, New York Musk, New York Patchouli and Nuits de Noho - each one a different corner of the city in a numbered bottle. Beside them sit the Italian extraits from Tiziana Terenzi: Kirke, Halley, Cassiopea, Andromeda, Ursa, Saiph, Telea and Moro di Venezia, the kind of thing where three sprays carry most of a day.

From Paris there is Maison Francis Kurkdjian, with Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, Grand Soir and Petit Matin. Montale covers the darker, denser end through Intense Black Aoud, Intense Cafe, Sweet Vanilla, Mukhallat, Starry Nights and Day Dreams. Orientica and Al Haramain handle amber and oud on more approachable terms with Amber Rouge, Royal Amber, Amber Noir, Amber Oud Rouge and Amber Oud Gold, while Lattafa Khamrah, Mancera Instant Crush, Initio Atomic Rose and Creed Royal Princess Oud fill in around them.

Shared scents are worth testing before you commit to them, which is why most of these are offered as a 5ml or 10ml decant alongside the full bottle. Living with something on your own skin for a week tells you more than any note list will.
