Cold citrus over warm tea. Trick opens on Calabrian bergamot and lemongrass, which is a sharper, greener start than most of the Game of Spades line - the bergamot bitter and oily, the lemongrass grassy and almost soapy in the first minute before it settles. Geranium follows through the middle and keeps things clean and slightly airy, adding a green-floral lift rather than a bouquet. Then the base changes the mood entirely: mate tea brings a dry, herbaceous bitterness, incense adds a thin curl of smoke, and soft musk smooths the landing. The result is a fragrance that reads bright and casual up top and quietly serious underneath, which is a harder trick to pull off than it sounds.

Citrus tops rarely last long anywhere, and in Miami the bergamot and lemongrass here are largely gone within forty-five minutes outdoors. That is not the problem it would be with a lesser fragrance, because the mate-and-incense base is the real body of it and that part holds well - six to eight hours on skin, close-wearing after the first hour, and it does not go sour when you sweat the way sugary compositions do. Dry, smoky bases are one of the few things that stay readable through August here. Spray your shirt as well as your skin if you want the citrus opening to survive the walk to the car.

Unisex and understated. Daytime, work, warm weather, and it holds up for an evening without feeling underdressed. This is a wear-it-often fragrance rather than an occasion one.
