Tropical fruit over creamy vanilla, which is a very different animal from the rest of the Yara line. Yara Tous opens on coconut, mango and passionfruit together - the mango ripe and a little jammy, the passionfruit sharp enough to stop it going flat, the coconut arriving as a soft milkiness rather than a beach accord. The middle turns floral without turning heavy: jasmine and orange blossom give it lift while heliotrope adds an almond-powder softness that bridges the fruit and the base. Then cashmeran, vanilla and musk close it out warm, slightly woody and skin-like. It is sweet, but the structure keeps it from collapsing into candy.

Fruit-and-vanilla compositions are the ones humidity treats worst, and this is the practical thing to know before you buy. On a mild day it wears eight hours and projects generously. On a 92-degree August afternoon in Miami the mango pushes forward hard and the whole thing gets louder and sweeter than it does indoors, so what feels like a considered two sprays at 8am can become a lot by lunchtime. It performs best in air conditioning, in the evening, or in the cooler months here when it settles into a warm cashmeran-vanilla skin scent that lasts most of a day. Spray it low - waist, not neck - if you plan to be outside.

Feminine, young-leaning and unmistakably a compliment scent. Best for evenings out, date nights and cool-weather daytime wear. It is a lot for a small shared office in summer.

Try it on skin at the Miami Gardens shop before deciding. Vanilla-heavy bases vary enormously from person to person, and this one either turns creamy or turns loud depending on who is wearing it.
