Salt air and red fruit, which is a nicer combination than it has any right to be. Milestone opens on bergamot with a red-fruit sweetness behind it and a clean marine accord running underneath - not the sharp calone blast of the early 2000s, more the cool, slightly ozonic feel of wind coming off water. Violet in the heart gives it a soft powdery lift, and sandalwood with pale white woods keeps the middle from thinning out. Then vetiver, musk and ambroxan take it home: dry, mineral and radiant, the sort of finish that hangs a few inches off the skin rather than announcing itself. Within the sprawling Club de Nuit family this is the light, breathable one.

Ambroxan is the reason this holds up in South Florida. It is one of the few materials that gains rather than loses definition in heat and moisture, so where the bergamot is gone by mid-morning the base keeps working - six to eight hours on skin, longer on a shirt, with a fresh salty trail that stays legible on a humid afternoon instead of going soapy. It is a genuinely good pick for a day that starts in an office and ends outdoors. The one caveat is that ambroxan projects further than people expect in still, damp air, so two sprays in August covers it where three would follow you around.

Masculine-leaning but easily unisex. Spring and summer, daytime, casual and outdoor settings, and comfortably office-safe. This is a weekday fragrance rather than a statement one.
