Pineapple is the first thing you notice, and it is the thing that decides whether this fragrance is for you. Afnan pairs it with mandarin and a crisp green Granny Smith apple, which keeps the opening tart rather than tropical-punch sweet. From there it turns woody, with cedarwood and a green oakmoss thread sitting under vanilla, before finishing on caramel, dry woods, ambergris and musk. Fruit on top, dry wood through the middle, sweetness at the bottom.

Six to eight hours on skin, with moderate to strong projection across the first two. Miami rearranges the balance of this one more than it does most fragrances. The fruit up top is volatile and heat strips it fast, so on a 90-degree day you spend far less time in the pineapple phase and arrive at the caramel-and-woods drydown by hour two instead of hour four. If the opening is the part you love, that is worth knowing before you buy: a morning application in July is a different fragrance by lunch than the identical application in January. Humidity also softens the oakmoss, which is generally an improvement.

Unisex, and genuinely so rather than nominally. Daytime, year-round, easy in an office, good on a casual weekend. The caramel base gives it enough weight for a night out without turning it into a heavy evening scent. This is a workhorse, not an occasion piece.

If the pineapple is a question mark for you, a 5ml or 10ml decant is the sensible way in. The alternative is testing it on skin at the Miami Gardens shop and giving it a full thirty minutes, because the fruit is not where this fragrance ends up.
