Sharp citrus and cold spice, then smoke. Iconic starts with grapefruit, lemon and a slap of mint over pink pepper and coriander - crisp, a little bitter - and moves into a spicier middle where ginger and nutmeg sit beside a watery melon note and a thread of jasmine. The real character shows up underneath: incense, cedar, sandalwood and labdanum give it a dry smoky finish more serious than the opening suggests.

Armaf builds these to project and Miami does nothing to soften them. Two sprays will fill a room, four will follow you down a hallway. In humid weather the mint and grapefruit up top last noticeably longer than they would in dry air, which is a genuine advantage - you get a fresh phase of an hour or more before the incense and cedar move in. Longevity runs past eight hours and the base clings to fabric for days, so whatever you wear this to will smell like it afterward. Where it gets away from people is the hot car: citrus goes brittle and labdanum turns dense in that trapped heat, so spray at the door rather than at the wheel.

Evening-leaning but usable in daylight if you go light. Best from late fall through spring in South Florida, and in peak August it needs a restrained hand. Fine at the office at one or two sprays, overwhelming at five - this one rewards discipline. Marketed to men, worn by plenty of women, and it makes far more sense on a night out than at a desk.
