Apple and vanilla over dry wood, with a soapy-fresh spine holding it upright. Lafayette Street starts bright - bergamot and coriander, a little green spice, a soft floral accent - and then does something clever: instead of drying out, it turns comfortable. Crisp apple meets vanilla and ambroxan in the middle, a combination that could easily go sticky and does not, because the ambroxan keeps sanding it smooth. The base is dry woods, cedarwood, tonka bean and grey amber - warm, slightly powdery, and long. Bond calls it a fougere and that is fair, but it is a fougere with a sweet tooth, and that is what makes people ask you what you are wearing.

Expect a full working day from it, often more, with strong projection through the first two hours before it settles onto skin. Miami heat treats this one kindly. Ambroxan and grey amber both amplify with warmth and moisture, so where a dry climate might leave it feeling flat by hour four, our humidity keeps a soft cloud of it around you well into the evening. The tradeoff is the vanilla and tonka, which get noticeably sweeter above 85 degrees - spray heavy in August and you will be smelling yourself all day. Three sprays is plenty down here.

A fall and winter favorite for most people, though it holds up on Miami evenings year-round once the sun goes down. Office-safe at a light application, better suited to dinner, drinks and cool nights out. Works on anyone.
