Summer Hammer opens with the fruit turned all the way up - mango, pineapple and coconut over bergamot, with rum giving the whole thing a boozy lift so it never reads as juice. The heart is where it earns the extrait label: coconut milk brings a creamy lactonic body, marine notes add a saline lift that keeps the sweetness in check, and white flowers stop it from being purely edible. Then vetiver, sandalwood, musk and Indian amber arrive underneath, and the fruit finally has somewhere to land. Here is the unusual part: this is one of the few tropical fragrances that gets better rather than worse in real tropical weather. The marine and vetiver notes are what save it - they keep the coconut from going waxy in high heat, which is the failure mode of nearly every beach-themed scent worn on an actual beach.
